D007-ISRAEL MANIFESTANTES CONTRA LA GUERRA EN IRAN

STORY: Hundreds of protesters gathered to demonstrate against the Israel-U.S. war against Iran in Tel Aviv on Saturday (March 28), many carrying signs opposing Israeli militarism and criticising the country's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Police and security forces moved to disperse the crowd shortly after the protest began at 19:00 local time (16:00GMT), sparking clashes.

Israel's Home Front Command defensive policy currently mandates a limit of 50 people at outdoor gatherings as the conflict with Iran continues.

The Tel Aviv protest marked the start of the fifth week of fighting in a war that appeared at risk of spreading further across the region on Saturday as Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis entered the conflict, launching missiles at Israel.

"When it started I was also a little optimistic that it could bring change to Iran. I think I was very naive, but that’s what we’ve been told," said Tel Aviv resident Rachel Rembrandt.

"And then a few days in I realised it was going to be very long because there would be no endgame of actually changing the regime in Iran and then it would just go on and on and on and on until elections," Rembrandt said.

And that’s a huge fear. I want to live in a democracy. And I think kind of what you just saw here demonstrates that, kind of, the police deciding that we can’t even protest against the war. I think that’s a huge risk.”
