D007-INDIA NUEVAS PROTESTAS CUCARACHAS
STORY: Indian security personnel on Sunday (October 11) detained several protesters who took out a march in the heart of New Delhi demanding the resignation of the country's election chief.
Protesters, some with visible injuries, most of whom belonged to student organisations, were dragged and forced into a bus by security personnel.
Police detained more than 2,000 people and locked down Delhi's city centre to thwart Saturday's (October 10) protest, and thousands of police and paramilitary personnel continued to be deployed across the city on Sunday although metro stations reopened and mobile internet services were back up.
The protests are calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over a revision of voter lists that critics say disproportionately benefits Modi's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has been in power for more than 12 years.
