Pope Leo arrived in Angola, his third stop on a four-country Africa tour, on Saturday (April 18).

He met with President Joao Lourence at the presidential palace, as Angolans gathered to catch a glimpse of the pope.

They expressed joy at the pope's visit, saying it brought a 'sign of happiness to all Angolans.'

More than half of the country identifies as Catholic.

The pope has issued sharp denunciations of war and inequality on the 10-day Africa tour, one of the most complicated ever arranged for a pontiff, with stops in 11 cities and towns in four countries, traversing nearly 18,000 km (11,185 miles) over 18 flights.
