D005-EEUU REACCIONES NYORK A ARCHIVOS EPSTEIN
Visitors to Manhattan's Washington Square Park on Saturday (December 20) voiced a mix of frustration and apathy after the U.S. Justice Department released thousands of documents related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Nancy Charney, visiting from Cleveland, Ohio, said she was “over it” and unmoved by the disclosures. Raheem M, a visitor from London, echoed a sense of fatigue. “The longer you play it out, the more people lose interest.”
For Bernie Demczuk from Washington, D.C., the timing of the release raised suspicions. “Every hour, every day, every week of a delay was to make sure that nothing in there would be known (to the) public about Donald Trump.”
The absence of references to Trump was notable given that pictures and documents related to him have trickled out of previous Epstein releases for years.

2. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PARK VISITOR FROM CLEVELAND, OHIO, NANCY CHARNEY, SAYING:
"You know what? I sort of glanced at it, I'm sort of over it. I understand people need to be held accountable. But what are we going to do with all this information? There are thousands and thousands of pictures. I'm sure they're going to have to go through. What are we going to do with the information? What are we going to do with it?"
3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PARK VISITOR, ARIEL DE SAL, SAYING:
“Obviously, some of the famous people we knew have been pictured with Epstein. We already know of their relationship. So that hasn't really changed anything, but it hasn't answered the length of what has been going on behind the scenes.”
4. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PARK VISITOR FROM WASHINGTON, D.C., BERNIE DEMCZUK, SAYING:
“Well, I think it's pretty obvious to me that the delay had everything to do with Trump's Justice Department to redact anything and everything that would tell the truth about Trump and the files. So I think I'm not surprised. Every hour, every day, every week of a delay was to make sure that nothing in there would be known (to the) public about Donald Trump.”
5. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PARK VISITOR FROM LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, RAHEEM M, SAYING:
“I think, you know, the longer you play it out, the more people lose interest. I think that's probably the play here. I mean, the hope is people lose interest and then they can release at a time and say ‘look, we released it’, but at that point in time, it's maybe too late.”
