D005-EEUU CORTES ELECTRICIDAD POR HURACAN ISAIAS
Crews across Florida's western Panhandle worked on Saturday to clear fallen trees and storm debris after Hurricane Isaias swept through the region, damaging homes, crushing vehicles and disrupting communities. Governor Ron DeSantis confirmed the deaths of at least two people in Florida, while another two deaths were reported in neighboring Alabama.
In Pensacola, massive trees toppled onto homes, while one vehicle was left crushed beneath a fallen tree. Drone footage showed workers removing branches and debris from damaged rooftops and neighborhoods littered with downed trees.
Elsewhere in the region, storm damage was evident in Gulf Breeze, where a Chevron gas station was damaged and a large truck was seen on its side in floodwater outside a shopping complex. Drone video also showed extensive damage to a Shell gas station. Along Pensacola Beach, aerial footage captured damaged waterfront property.
Authorities in Florida had received no search and rescue requests shortly after landfall in a sign of limited impact, Governor Ron DeSantis said, but warned residents of flooding in the coming days as swollen rivers continued to rise.
A category 2 hurricane when it hit Florida's coast and the first of the 2026 Atlantic season, Isaias is expected to produce gusty winds well inland before weakening below gale force later on Saturday, the NHC said.

7. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FLORIDA GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS SAYING:
"From the structural perspective, I think our structures handled the storm very well. The problem is that the storm knocked over a lot of trees and so your house, the roof probably didn't blow off on this, but if the tree fell on your house then obviously that's a very difficult situation. So the trees and what the wind did to that definitely caused a lot of issues with damages to structures, but also just with the debris and being able to clear. And we've got guys out there; I know they're doing it locally, and they're going to continue to be able to do this. Unfortunately, we have confirmed two storm-related fatalities. One individual in Escambia County had a tree fall on his home and tragically was killed, and another one unfortunately died inside of his garage, and when they went to find him, the generator was running. So just don't run the generator inside; it's something that can be fatal."

"We are keeping our people on standby because I think if you look, some of these rivers are going to crest in the next couple of days with all the inundation. So I don't think that you can say, well, there was flooding; it's receded. We're fine. There's going to be new flooding that's going to arise in different parts of the region. So our folks are here. We still have our FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) watercraft. We've got all of our state agencies, and I know the locals are doing stuff as well."
