STORY: A helicopter flying over a popular beach in southern California crashed into a nearby structure on Saturday (October 11), injuring five people, authorities said.
Video obtained by Reuters showed the mangled wreckage of a helicopter lying on a structure behind a row of palm trees near the Hyatt Hotel. The words on the overhead walkway read, “Huntington Beach Club”, the footage showed.
Reuters was able to independently verify the location of the video by building exterior, structures and trees that matched file images. Reuters was able to verify the date of the footage from the original file metadata.
The Huntington Beach Fire Department said five people were hospitalized, including two who were in the helicopter and three others on the street who sustained injuries. No further details on their injuries were made available.
