STORY: Chile set a Guinness World Record on Saturday (October 25) with the world’s largest clothing swap, as more than 2,000 people gathered at Santiago’s La Moneda Cultural Center to exchange garments and promote sustainable fashion.

The event, organized by the collective The Ropantic Show and supported by the Ministry of the Environment, aimed to surpass 2,000 swaps in eight hours—a target set by the organizers since no previous record existed.

Natalia Ramirez, an official Guinness World Records adjudicator certified the achievement, calling the initiative “completely innovative” and unprecedented globally.

The Ropantic Show, founded by Maria Jose Gomez, seeks to foster responsible clothing consumption and new habits through circular fashion. According to Gomez, the record attempt was the culmination of a decade-long effort to promote sustainable textile practices in Chile.
