STORY: Two people were reported dead in Moscow region after what Moscow's mayor Sergei Sobyanin called the biggest ever drone attack on the Russian capital on Sunday (September 20).

In Sofyino, town in Moscow region, an apartment block was heavily damaged, a body was seen on the ground before it was taken by the special services. Several were also wounded, eyewitness told Reuters, who also said that the attack happened very early in the morning. It was not immediately clear where the second deadly attack in Moscow region happened.

The capital's oil refinery - which has been hit before - was struck, local authorities said. Reuters witnesses heard blasts in Moscow and saw plumes of smoke billowing from the refinery site. It was not clear what damage the facility had sustained. There was no immediate comment from Ukraine.

"It happened around 4 a.m., when it got warmer. I was leaving the apartment building, took literally about 20 steps from the entrance, and there was an explosion. Glass went flying, people started screaming and shouting. I turned around, and the entrance doors had already been blown out, debris everywhere. They had already carried someone out, everyone was asking for help. And that’s how it all happened."
