STORY: Smoke billowed in southern Lebanon on Sunday (September 6) as people gathered to survey the destruction caused by Israeli strikes in the town of Arab Salim.

The Israeli military said it was striking southern Lebanon early on Sunday in retaliation for Hezbollah firing two drones at Israeli soldiers stationed in a part of the region it has declared a security zone.

The Israeli military had issued an evacuation warning to areas near a building in Arab Salim town in South Lebanon, saying it will strike it as it is used by Hezbollah.

Lebanese health ministry said that four people were killed including two women and 20 others were injured in the Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon.

There was no immediate comment from the Iran-backed group Hezbollah.

On Friday, the Israeli military said it struck weapon storage facilities intended to be used by Hezbollah in south Lebanon.

Since March 2, Israeli strikes have killed more than 4,300 people in Lebanon.

“Since this morning, at 05:00 a.m. (0200 GMT), they (Israeli military) warned my brother’s house. As you can see, he is a man who has nothing to do with anything; he lives abroad. His house was still under construction, and he had not stayed there yet. He had finished it, but had not lived in it yet. The (Israeli evacuation) warning came in the morning. And we are just like all those people, we sacrifice our homes and whatever else we can for the martyrs. We are sad because they (Israeli military) struck another house where there were people and residents. We were waiting for them to hit our house that they had warned.”

There is nothing in it, 100 percent. They (referring to Israeli military) did not even send anyone to confirm whether there was anything inside or not.”
