D002-EEUU INUNDACIONES HAWAI
STORY: Drone footage released by the Hawaii Department of Law Enforcement (DLE) from Friday (March 20) showed inundated neighbourhoods and washed‑out forested areas on the North Shore of the state's Oahu island, as the second Kona Low storm in two weeks swept the island.
The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency said DLE drone teams supported search‑and‑rescue efforts on Friday as heavy rain continued across the islands.
The National Weather Service said the storm began hitting Hawaii on Thursday (March 19) and was expected to bring significant rain, flash flooding and hazardous winds through the weekend, with the worst conditions forecast Friday into Sunday (March 22).
The state was hit by an initial Kona Low storm from March 10 to March 15, bringing floods and hurricane-force winds across multiple islands.
