STORY: Tourists flocked to view the partially frozen Niagara Falls on Saturday (January 31), despite frigid temperatures, with visitors praising the winter spectacle as a striking sight.

"We're celebrating our 10-year anniversary together," said Steven Eroco, visiting from Oshawa, Ontario, with his partner Laura Gohnston, to whom he proposed. "We've heard it's nice to come here in the wintertime, so we figured we'd check it out," he added.

The icy formations of the falls, frozen trees, and partially frozen water captivated onlookers, including locals and international visitors.

"It's beautiful. It's very nice," added Eroco, describing the icicles and the partially frozen power station, while his partner called the scene "really neat."

Nancy and Jim Millington, also from Ontario, shared their impressions of the site. "It seemed like a crazy idea to visit in the cold, but it's beautiful," Nancy Millington said, noting her initial doubts about the trip.

Mexican-born visitors Myrna Gonzalez and Fernando Nieto, who have lived in Canada since 2000, echoed the sentiment of awe. "We like to come in winter because the experience is absolutely amazing. It's cold, it's chilly, but it's beautiful—a Canadian gem," said Nieto.

The frozen cascades, ice-covered surroundings, and floating river ice provided a dramatic backdrop, drawing cameras and admiration from many. Visitors braved the cold to witness one of Canada's most iconic natural wonders transformed by the season.
