STORY: Russia launched 805 drones and 13 missiles into Ukraine overnight on Sunday (September 7) , with Ukrainian defence units downing 751 drones and four missiles.

That was the highest number of drones Russia has used to attack the country since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The attack set the main building of the Ukrainian government in Kyiv on fire and left three people dead, including an infant, whose body was pulled from the rubble.

Reuters' witnesses saw a missile in the sky and an explosion after it hit a residential building in Kyiv. moments later the witness saw another missile being hit by the air defence. The missile was seen on fire going down.

State emergency officials said that 18 people were injured in the attack which sparked fires throughout the city.
