D001-JAPON CELEBRACIONES VICTORIA MUNDIAL
STORY: Japanese soccer fans packed Tokyo's Shibuya Crossing on Sunday (June 21) to celebrate their 4-0 World Cup victory over Tunisia, Japan's biggest ever win at the tournament.
Hundreds of fans, many draped in blue jerseys and national flags, flooded the iconic crossing after the final whistle was blown. Police were deployed to manage the swelling crowds as supporters spilled onto the street anytime the crossing opened.
Ayase Ueda scored twice as Hajime Moriyasu's side moved to four points in Group F, level with the Netherlands.
The commanding win in Monterrey — played in the 1,000th match in World Cup history — saw Japan become the first Asian side to score four goals in a single World Cup game. Tunisia, already beaten 5-1 by Sweden, were eliminated with the defeat.
