STORY: Costumed revelers danced, drummed and marched through Manhattan’s Greenwich Village on Saturday (October 31) for the 53rd annual Village Halloween Parade.

“This Village parade is one of the best things New York City has to offer,” said artist James Haggerty, who dresses up as a portrait of Vincent van Gogh each year. He said the painter would have loved the city’s “unbridled, beautiful chaos.”

Founded in 1974, the parade is free to watch and typically draws tens of thousands of costumed marchers.
