D001-ALBANIA PROTESTA CONTRA RESORT DE LOS TRUMP

14 de junio 2026 - 11:35

Tirana (Albania)

Albanians continued to protest on Saturday (June 13) against a planned luxury resort backed by a company linked to Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The streets of Tirana were filled with crowds waving Albanian flags and carrying various flamingo props.

The project is meant to be developed on an environmentally sensitive part of the Adriatic coast, the Vjosa-Narta protected landscape - a wetland home to flamingos, seals and sea turtle nesting sites.

Animal conservation group PPNEA Bird Life Albania have said if the project will go ahead there is a risk the flamingos will disappear.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, who championed the luxury resort deal in an interview with Reuters this week, asserts that the development is legal and that habitats would be protected.
