STORY: A life-size rough bronze statue of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump disappeared from near her hometown of Sevnica in southeastern Slovenia, footage revealed on Friday (May 16).

The majority of the bronze statue, situated in a field in Rozno near Sevnica, had been removed from its tree stump base with just the feet of the statue left.

According to local media, police are investigating the case.

The bronze statue was unveiled in 2020 to replace a wooden figure which was set on fire.

Standing on a 2.8 meter (9.2 feet) high wooden base, the bronze statue had rough features and a face unrecognisable as the first lady.

Trump, now 55, had a successful career as a fashion model before marrying U.S. President Donald Trump in 2005.
